October Kundalini Tantric Numerology
October takes us into ‘spooky season’, having just passed the equinox, we are now, officially, in autumn. Nature is starting to bed down for the year, and somewhere within ourselves we can also feel a pull to slow down, take stock and re-adjust to our changing landscape - internally as well as externally.
Autumn is thought of as harvest season - the time to reap and store what we’ve been growing throughout the year. Of course, this relates to crops, but also what we have been creating for ourselves in our lives. At first you might think that list is short, but we are creating 24/7 - the only difference is whether we create consciously or unconsciously. October is a good time to go inward and not only reflect on our creations, our connections, our relationships, but to also integrate and honour what we have achieved so far.
Within kundalini yoga, 10 represents the Radiant Body under the 10 Energetic Bodies framework. It’s a framework that describes all the facets of ourselves - referring to them as bodies, one of which is the physical body - but we are so much more than our corporal vessels!
The Radiant Body is the seat of our innate radiance, nobility, royalty. And what we’re talking about could not be further away from our societal constructs of these statuses. Instead, this it is the undeniable knowing that we are divine, that we are enough, that everything we need is available to us. We are grace, we are regal.
“Every human has to have his armor—the radiant body, shining. To polish the radiant body is a very polite, and simple thing to do.”
Yogi Bhajan
Someone whose Radiant Body is strong, feels completely at ease in every step they take, there are no questions or doubts - just courage and fearlessness because they are in connection with their power. And this inner light extends past them, into their aura. We all know people who light up a room as soon as they step into it, or who command attention merely by their presence - that is a strong Radiant Body in action.
This month - as the earth tilts closer to the sun and our days become shorter, while the long dark nights become longer - now is the time to supplement the loss of light from our wonderful sun by shinning our own inner light even more brightly, and letting it become our guide through whatever we navigate.
Sounds great, but how do we do that? One great tool and practical for connecting with our radiance is archer pose. It is a warrior pose which helps us strengthen our resilience and courage, awakening the inner hero we all have.
Chanting mantras is also a powerful technique to beam our radiance. Chattra Chakkra Vartee is a mantra that dissolves fear and anxiety and is perfect for strengthening this Body.
“Chattra Chakkra Vartee, Chattra Chakkra Bhugatay, Suyambhav Subhang Sarab Daa Saraab Jugatay. Dukaalan Pranasee, Diaalang Saroopay, Sadaa Ang Sangay, Abhangang Bibhutaay”
Even playing it in the background while you’re at home or on your earphones as you head into work will work some magic.
And of course, deeply connecting with our inner fire - harnessing its power to burn through maya, incinerate our blocks, dissolve to ashes our limitations - is another formidable path we have available to us to blaze our light outwards.
And finally, we cannot get away from the fact that October also holds an air of death within it. All across the world this is recognised by so many cultures and civilisations, whether it is Halloween, Samhain, El Dia de Los Muertos or any of the other countless traditions that are in place. The approach that resonates with me is Mexico’s celebration of death and therefore of life. The choice to embrace the cycle of life in its entirety and connect with the beauty of all parts - I feel we were not designed to constantly be in the growing energy of spring and summer, these periods of stillness, quiet, ‘death’, are just as important and nurturing to us. There cannot be light without darkness, there cannot be life without death, so let’s harvest and integrate.
